I didn’t enjoy reading this work. Parts of it are utterly terrifying. Curiously, however, Nomad Century is ultimately sustained by a cautious, long-term optimism. As a whole, it is extremely convincing and it has changed the way I view the world.

Sharif Gemie is a happily retired history lecturer living in south Wales. His first novel, The Displaced (forthcoming in April), concerns a British couple who volunteer to work with refugees in Germany at the end of the Second World War.
