Leanne Wood makes the case for community-based renewable energy schemes as an answer to the cost-of-living crisis and a way of empowering people in some of the hardest-hit areas of Wales.

It’s almost twelve years since I published my attempt to provide a whole-systems approach to rebuilding Welsh communities. The plan, written after the banking crash of 2007-8 and called A Greenprint for the Valleys, placed climate, community and the foundational economy (those activities that provide essential goods and services) at the heart of an economic programme designed to build resilience to future shocks.
