As a post-graduate student at the end of the 1970s I began reviewing for the Books Council’s Llais Llyfrau/ Book News from Wales, the first of many reviews for the publication. So it was with some interest that I read the opening chapters of this book celebrating sixty years of the council’s existence, each by a different author, outlining the history and the political contexts which have led to its current responsibilities for promoting, supporting and distributing Welsh publications.
