The Unlikely Heroics of Sam Holloway by Rhys Thomas
and
The Golden Orphans by Gary Raymond
Sam Holloway, the hero of The Unlikely Heroics of Sam Holloway by Rhys Thomas, is a dysfunctional young man who comes face to face with all the demons of his past over the course of this engaging novel. A devastating tragedy in early adulthood has shaped him, turning him into an introverted, geeky, obsessive-compulsive semi-recluse. Though he is functional and responsible at work, he fails utterly at normal social interactions, apart from those with his pals Blotchy and Tango, two similarly geeky outcasts.
