Queer Square Mile: Queer Short Stories from Wales Edited by Kirsti Bohata, Mihangel Morgan and Huw Osborne

Parthian Books, £12

The title of this anthology reflects the current shift towards local LGBTQ+ history. And this 660-page tome (now in paperback) goes the extra mile, with forty-six stories from writers across Wales and the border, spanning the last two centuries. Not all the authors are queer, but the tales all have queer under- or overtones, through the interpretation of the editors – scholars whose fascinating introduction places the literature in its historical context.
