Hon: Women Artists in Wales
Ed. Christine Kinsey and
Bywyd a Gwaith Ogwyn Davies – A Life in Art
by Ceri Thomas and
Portraits of Tibet by Diane Barker
Women in the art world face an ongoing struggle to gain anything like the recognition or celebration granted to men. Add to that the way that Wales tends to be overlooked within the UK, and it is clear that women artists in this country are up against considerable obstacles. The situation is heightened by the lack of opportunities to collectively present their works. It is therefore refreshing to see Hon: Women Artists in Wales / Artistiaid Benywaidd yng Nghymru for, as noted in the introduction, ‘this is a book that redresses the imbalance… for Welsh women artists.’
