The Half-Life of Snails
by Philippa Holloway
This timely novel, meticulously researched and rooted in a deeply felt knowledge of place, has been a long time in gestation. Set in 2014, it links two nuclear power sites, in Wales and Ukraine, and builds a human story between Wylfa A in Anglesey, then approaching its final decommissioning, and the Chernobyl plant during the violent Ukrainian uprising of that year.
