A poem by John Barnie
Beginning
Twm said what do you mean barging in like this
and they shot him through the head
I screamed one threatened me with the butt of his gun
I collapsed on the floor, hands over my face
they left, someone an officer I think yelling at them
from an armoured vehicle in the street
who’d have thought it on Heol yr Eos
we’re respectable here but that’s all changed
they’ve got new rules and women can’t go out alone
there’s fear in every street, behind every door
poor Twm he didn’t know what he was saying we
didn’t know what occupation means, such times…
