A unique literary voice fell silent on 20 November 2020 with the death of Jan Morris at 94, but her publishing afterlife continued. Her canon reached its conclusion with the publication of Allegorizings in early November 2021, released to commemorate the first anniversary of her death. It is a book that can trace its history back at least eighteen years, with most of it having been completed by 2009.

Paul Clements wrote the first critical study of Jan Morris’s work, published by the University of Wales Press in 1997, and in 2006 edited a Festschrift for her eightieth birthday, published by Seren. His biography of Jan Morris, Life from Both Sides, will be published by Scribe in September 2022.
