Helen Sandler reviews
A Little Gay History of Wales
by Daryl Leeworthy
In this short and accessible book, Daryl Leeworthy attempts ‘to establish an LGBT history “from below”’ and from the margins. This Welsh story has not been told in exactly this way before, nor told much at all outside a recent flurry. There was Queer Wales in 2016, a loose collection of academic essays edited by Huw Osborne. Since then we have seen LGBT+ tales from the past told by Norena Shopland in Forbidden Lives, and a strand of social history unpicked by Planet’s current reviews editor, Mike Parker, in On the Red Hill.
