Escape to Gwrych Castle: A Jewish Refugee Story

Among the lesser-known stories of Jews in Wales is that of the two hundred refugee children who, during the Second World War, were housed in the once-grand estate of Gwrych Castle in Abergele. Snippets of this story were already available, not least in Andrea Hammel’s excellent Finding Refuge (which I reviewed in Planet 250), but the full history had never been told in one place – until now.
