Cranogwen

by Jane Aaron

UWP, £19.99

This much-anticipated Welsh-language biography of Cranogwen came out just in time for the unveiling of her statue in Llangrannog, Ceredigion – and in time for Pride Month. It gives new detail on a fascinating life from the most recent findings of Jane Aaron, the leading scholar on Cranogwen. This is an academic work, but remains readable for the wider audience who may be drawn to the book because of the new statue – or indeed the cover, where a portrait by Meinir Mathias shows a challenging figure, straddling the world of the feminine and the stereotypically masculine sea.
