The Little Hours: New and Selected Poems
by Hilary Llewellyn-Williams
Hilary Llewellyn-Williams’ new collection comes out of a lifetime engaging with poetry, and gives a helpful insight into the sweep of her work. Earlier collections – The Tree Calendar, Book of Shadows, Animaculture, and Greenland – are each represented with a good handful of poems. Among the new pieces is ‘The Little Hours’, a sequence based on the canonical hours of the Church, the progression of liturgy through the cycle of night and day. As title poem it serves to focus the volume.
