He describes conditions for many in so-called ‘Generation Rent’ – the increasing numbers of people renting from the private sector – who are finding it ever more difficult to get on the housing ladder, let alone secure a council house, and who face the prospect of being in limbo from youth into middle age and beyond in unregulated, overpriced and often unsafe housing.
