I was recently scrolling through Planet’s Twitter feed, numbly reading a comment piece on the latest attempt by the Tories to divide and rule the populace by seeking a divergence of funds away from addressing inequalities experienced by ethnic minorities, women and other protected groups to its ‘levelling up’ agenda supposedly for the benefit of the so-called ‘White working class’. Spliced above and below this article on the Twitter feed were two vicious and tragic spats between left-leaning Welsh activists tormenting each other with cutesy emojis, one over some arcane semiotic point that had got snarled up in misunderstanding, Chinese Whispers style several posts down the thread; the second over whether each other’s objections to their respective points were examples of man-splaining or straight-splaining...
