Across Wales active campaigns have gained momentum in defence of NHS provision and been widely reported in the local press. In north Wales, the closure of the Flint Cottage Hospital has been at the centre of the action, with concerns also being raised about the restriction of scans at night and weekends at three main hospitals due to lack of staff. In west Wales campaigns have centred on the downgrading of facilities at the Withybush Hospital in Haverfordwest. South Wales has seen widespread action as a result of the proposals in the NHS South Wales Partnership – composed of the five NHS Boards from Swansea across to Gwent – to downgrade facilities at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital in Llantrisant.
