The next few years will be very challenging for us at Planet, as from April 2019 onwards we have experienced another cut to our Welsh Books Council funding. This follows successive cuts to our WBC grant meaning that we now receive less than half the grant we received in 2008, with ever greater demands on our time and resources in a multi-platform publishing environment.

However, Planet is going from strength to strength and reaching ever more readers. We have lots of exciting ideas for how the magazine can further flourish, and with enough support we are confident that these can come to fruition.

We are encouraging readers to participate in Planet’s future by taking out our re-designed ‘Supporters’ Subscriptions’, helping to ensure that Planet continues to offer its unique view on Wales and on the world. Please see below for the range of exclusive new products, benefits and reading experiences you receive as part of the subscription packages. We have taken care to design these packages drawing on nearly 50 years of Planet, in keeping with our ethos.

New readers are very welcome to take out Supporters’ Subscriptions. If you already subscribe and would like to take out a Supporters’ Subscription we can simply add four more issues to your subscription, and then you will receive the option of reverting to the previous price or taking out a new Supporters’ Subscription when your subscription comes up for renewal. You can take out a Supporters’ Subscription as an individual, or as a collective (between work-mates, family members or as an organisation, for example). A limited edition T-shirt and Fairtrade bag from a range with iconic Planet artwork, exclusively available for those taking out a Supporters’ Subscription.

A limited edition A3 wall-print with a collage of Planet artwork from the 1970s to the present, exclusively available for those taking out a Supporters’ Subscription.

A collection of 4 mystery back issues from the 1970s, '80s and '90s including features by ground-breaking authors from Wales and worldwide relating to a theme you are especially interested in, selected by the Planet team. You can choose between the following themes: Wales in Europe, Icons of Welsh Writing in English, 50 Years of Welsh Internationalism, Devolution and Independence, Celebrating Cymraeg.

The option to be named as a Planet Supporter in our print and digital magazine credits for the duration of the subscription.
